This blog is the result of a series of conversations I had with Pastor Alice O’Donovan at Westfield Congregational Church in Danielson, CT (http://www.westfielducc.org.) The church held an Advent Wreath workshop and luncheon and I took a picture of one of the wreaths. I liked the photo enough to adopt it as the wallpaper on my laptop and found that it caused, or perhaps allowed is a better word, me to go to an “Advent Place”, to take the time out of a hectic day to be quiet – to close out the din and scramble around me – and contemplate the meaning of the season.
I then sent the photo to the congregation, telling them the story and inviting them to try it. When Pastor Alice and I next met, she suggested that we might expand on this idea, and so we have.
Become quiet, choose an image, contemplate it, reflect on it, pray on it, and listen for the heartbeat of God.
